resiliency and relaxation tips

We are currently living in a time of extraordinary and profound change and we are all looking for ways to promote resilience and decrease stress.

Join Dr. April Hirschberg for this free interactive virtual webinar where she will discuss stress and stress awareness. She will also discuss the stress response of the human body as well as the relaxation response and the science behind how learning to elicit the relaxation response can promote well-being and resilience. Healthy lifestyle behaviors and how to enhance other adaptive coping strategies including social connectedness, creativity and humor will also be introduced (This is not a therapy group).

For High School Aged Teens

Program participants will learn new self-care and coping skills to help manage stress and distress. Participants are invited to bring a paper and a writing utensil to the session.

Resources will be provided during the sessions.

About Dr. Hirschberg:

Dr. April Hirschberg received her MD from the University of Vermont College of Medicine. She completed her residency in adult psychiatry at the MGH/ McLean Combined Psychiatry Program in 2006 and has since remained on staff in the MGH Department of Psychiatry first in the Center for Women’s Mental Health and later in the MGH Cancer Center. She is an Instructor in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. She has completed Stress Management and Resiliency Training (SMART) Certification with the MGH Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine. Since 2018 she has been leading stress management and resiliency programs for individuals with cancer and those at high risk for cancer at MGH. She has also been offering similar resiliency group programs to frontline health care workers since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. She is board certified in Lifestyle Medicine through the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine and is a certified Health and Well-being Coach. April lives in Acton with her husband and two kids.
