Danny’s Place Youth Services, in collaboration with Domestic Violence Services Network Inc (DVSN) offers a RESIST class (Realistic escape strategies & instinct-based self-defense training) for young women. The goal of the course is to learn how to escape from an attacker using instinct-based moves.
Day 1: We talk about general safety & dating safety, before learning and then practicing physical defense moves like strikes, blocks, and escape strategies.
Day 2: Students and instructors wear protective gear, and participants will be faced with a series of scenarios requiring the use of their voice and learned moves to escape. This part of the course is intense but amazing and empowering.
This event is recommended for all high school & college age girls who are residents of Acton and Boxborough. Participants must pre-register, as there is only space for 16 students.
2019 Dates: Monday, June 24, 6-9pm & Wednesday, June 26, 6-9pm
Location: Administration Building Gym
This class is funded by Danny’s Place Youth Services and presented in partnership with Domestic Violence Services Network Inc.
