The U Project 2023 Celebration

Join us at the Annual End of the Year U Project Celebration!!! We will be celebrating all of the high school students who completed a U Project this school year.  U Project students will be sharing their projects for all to view and ask questions. Open and free to the general public! Light refreshments will be provided.

Date: Wednesday, May 31, 2023

Time: 6pm-7:30pm

Location: The Gallery at West Acton Villageworks

About The U Project: This program provides an opportunity for local high school youth of the Acton-Boxborough community to develop and execute original ideas through community service project based work in the community. As the project leaders of their own ideas, students will develop essential life skills, earn community service credits, gain experience for their resumes and college applications and make valuable connections to local leaders and peers while making a contribution to the future of their community. DPYS will grant project funding (up to $1,000 per project) and provide work space and mentorship.

Danny’s Place & ThinkGive: An experience for students to be changemakers in their schools and communities

Attention all 5th+6th graders: Do you want to make an impact in your community? Want to help promote kindness and inclusion? Join us each week to embark on a journey to learn about yourself and become an empowered changemaker.

Event dates: This is a closed group on Wednesdays from 3:30pm-4:30pm at Danny’s Place.

What will you do? Every week you’ll explore topics like empathy and social justice, and consider who you are and who you want to be by taking action and giving of yourself — a compliment, a helping hand, appreciation, love. The group will use an online social media platform to reflect and collaborate, then will come together to share and discuss – allowing for connection and bonding with your peers.  Watch as the ripple effect of your acts of kindness, empathy, inclusion, and connection inspire others in your school and community!

About ThinkGive: ThinkGive is a non-profit organization that runs a social emotional learning program designed to inspire 4-8th graders to use kindness to engage with their world. Our curriculum empowers young people to become thinkers, upstanders, and changemakers, while learning to build a strong sense of self, make meaningful connections, and lead with empathy and kindness.
