The DPYS Grant Program is undergoing a change of name and charter. These changes will be announced in the fall of 2007. Starting immediately
and until further notice, DPYS Grant Applications will not be accepted under the former guidelines and deadlines. A full description of the new
program will be made available on this web site and in the Beacon.

| July 2006 Grants Awarded |
We are pleased to announce that the following grants have been awarded as part of the July grant application cycle:
- Improvisation for Theatre - Awarded $1,500
- Submitted by Linda Potter and Jeanie Furlan
- Weekly sessions at Danny's Place and ABRHS to be run with professional actor, comedian, and playwright Ron T. Jones
- Sessions will practice improvisatory exercises followed by a discussion and guidance from Mr. Jones

- Youth in Philanthropy - Awarded $2,000
- Submitted by Catherine Coleman
- This program provides hands-on training in philanthropy
- A series of training sessions teach students how to determine community needs, evaluate grant proposals, raise funds, allocate funds,
and present their decisions
- The Youth in Philanthropy program met the DPYS grant application criteria for Coaching and Mentoring.

| April 2006 Grants Awarded |
We are pleased to announce that the following grants have been awarded as part of the April grant application cycle:
- Network for Woman's Lives - Awarded $3,000
- The grant funds the production and distribution of the booklet "Love Isn't Supposed to Hurt" which describes what teens need to know about
teen dating violence prevention
- Available to youth in the Acton and Boxborough schools and at Danny's Place
- The NWL grant application met the DPYS criteria for Health and Wellness
- Household Goods Recycling Ministry - Awarded $1,000
- The grant funds the development of a youth council to work at the recycling center and develop materials to train other youth
- HGRM provides no-cost household goods to people in transitional living situations
- The HGRM grant application met the DPYS grant application criteria for Coaching and Mentoring.

| January 2006 Grants Awarded |
We are pleased to announce that the following grants have been awarded as part of the January grant application cycle:
- Your Future Self - Awarded $5,350
- Submitted by Karen Scibinico and Jan Stewart
- The two-part program will offer Spring workshops for parents and teens to discuss the everyday demands, pressures and expectations felt by
youth from their school, personal and family lives.
- In the Fall, teens can attend coaching sessions to practice techniques to manage pressure and stress more positively.
- All sessions will be held at Danny’s Place.
- ABRHS Community Service Program
- Awarded $3,000
- Submitted by Kay Steeves
- This program provides hands-on community service opportunities for youth and recognizes them for their contribution.

We are pleased to announce that the following grants have been awarded as part of the October grant application cycle:
- Project Wellness - Awarded $3,500
- Submitted by Linda Minkoff
- Full day off-site conference for 7th grade R.J. Grey students and a parent to attend interactive workshops that focus on improved teen-parent
communication
- Conference seeks to heighten awareness of teen issues and risky behaviors, and concludes with an entertaining motivational speaker
